Fatima Thair suffered from a viral infection at the age of three which lead to irreversible brain damage. She is unable to walk. She cannot talk properly and is completely dependent on her mother. Fatima's family are impoverished and living in a make shift refugee settlement (Al Tagawiz area) outside of Al Najaf, Iraq. Thanks to ICARE's Sponsor a Smile project and the generous donations of people from all over the world including Kiwanis Club and ICARE Dunedin's documentary screening with MSGA we were able to purchase an electric wheelchair for Fatima to help her become more independent and contribute towards her ongoing medical expenses and rehabilitation.
