On March 16th 2013, ICARE Australia hosted its very first event at the Graduate Centre of the University of Melbourne! There was a great turnout of over 70 people, including special guest comedian Khaled Khalafalla who brought laughter to the night. The ICARE volunteers helped promote the initiative to guests. There were artworks and merchandise for sale, raffle prizes and a short documentary. We are proud to say that we raised $870 which will go towards our "sponsor a smile" project in Iraq to help those who are in need. The event was a great success and we hope that this reflects on future events held in Australia! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen; the volunteers, photographers, special guests, artists and media crew.
