Decades of ongoing war and sanctions have left Iraq's healthcare system crippled. Not only is there a shortage of medical supplies and equipment but the numbers of specialist doctors and dentists is continually decreasing. Many children are orphaned from low socioeconmic backgrounds and do not have the means or financial ability to receive medical care. ICARE's Sponsor a smile project is a collaborative endeavour, our team of health professionals on the ground in Iraq work to identify children needing medical aid and then raising funds for these children so that they can receive this treatment. In cases where the treatment is not available in Iraq, we work to arrange for the child to travel to a country in which it is.
